Benefits of Tucuma Butter

Native to Brazil, the Tucuma palm tree is widely consumed in the state of Pará. In fact, the fruit is so closely associated with that state that it is called tucumã do Pará. The tucuma palm is protected by thousands of large thorns and contains an edible fruit.

Like many palm fruits, the tucumã is a source of vegetable oil. The oil from the pulp has high levels of beta-carotene and is bright orange-yellow in color. However, tucuma butter is can be obtained from the kernels of the fruit.  It is rich in vitamin A, B and C, lauric, myristic and oleic acids and amino acids. Tucuma butter is great to use as is; and also great for the hair as well as the skin. It serves as an excellent skin moisturizer due to its spreadability and softening properties. Tucuma butter melts on skin contact and hydrates dry thirsty skin. It is a great hair conditioner and is known to protect the hair from sun damage and also restore damaged hair to its natural state.
